Your due date is approaching, and it's time to pack your hospital bag. We provide the list to help you pick and choose what items you'll need and help you discover some you might not have considered. Check this out:
- ID document/ID card
- Birth plan (a birth plan is an outline of your preferences during your labor and delivery, talk to your midwife about it)
- Energy - bring your favourite easy-to-grab snacks, food, drinks, sweets. There´s a refridgerator and a micro wave oven available. Don´t forget to bring some for the support personal as well
- Water bottle (drinking from a glass might be difficult depending on the position you are in)
- Loose and comfortable clothes to wear during labour that does not restrict you from moving around or make you too hot
- dressing gown / kimono and slippers
- your own blanket and/or pillow with your favourite pillow case from home (to create the feeling of coziness and safety)
- Light string, LED lanterns to create that cozy feeling
- washbag with a toothbrush, hairbrush, flannel, soap, lip balm, deodorant, hair ties and other toiletries (super-absorbent sanitary or maternity pads and mesh panties are available at the maternity hospital/postnatal ward/patient hotel)
- cell phone, charger, extension cord, bluetooth speaker, play list
- Baby carrier or wrap
- Compression socks for comfort and reduce swelling
- Nursing bras if you're planning to breastfeed (remember, your breasts will be much larger than usual), nursing cream, nursing pads
- For you who isn´t not going to breastfeed: supportive bras, 2 baby bottles, baby formula if you wish to use a specific type (otherwise available at the Maternity clinic)
- Blanket for the baby
- 2-3 changes of clothes for the baby, Kimono wrap shirts or bodysuits. The best way to care for the newborn is SKIN-TO-SKIN during the first day or two, just wearing a diaper and a blanket lying on top of you or your partner.
